Unwanted dog Bob didn't manage to spark interest in anyone during an adoption event. Devastated, he was looking around at other pets who were lucky enough to get matched with their special humans. But unexpectedly, Bob was not only watched but also filmed by a kindhearted animal lover who, thanks to the power of social media, turned him into a popular dog the Internet fell in love with.

Three-year-old Bob arrived at Badass Animal Shelter Brooklyn in Central Park, New York from a shelter in Georgia in June. Shy and struggling to socialise, he has remained with his foster family ever since. According to his carers, he is ‘an incredibly sweet dog who just wants to love and be loved’ but is not interested in attention, and it took months for him to warm up to them.
But as Bob needs a forever home, he was taken to an adoption event in a bid to match him with a special human. Who could know that it would turn this ‘lay-low’ pup into a celebrity?

A video featuring unwanted Bob went viral
Andrea Caceres, an animal lover and illustrator, spotted Bob at the event and filmed the heartbreakinglack of interest in him amongst potential adopters.
The clip shows the 10-pound terrier waiting and waiting for someone to come over and play with him but no one does. As he looks around, he sees lots of people in the crowd ignore him. He then plonks himself on the grass while the volunteer pets him on the head. Sadly, the poor furball left the event without a loving new owner.
The caption to Andrea’s video said:
POV: You are at an adoption event and all the adoptable dogs are getting attention except for... Bob. Please someone, get him a forever home.

After the video was posted on TikTok, it received more than 7 million views along with thousands of comments of support for the heartbroken pup. Nearly a million have liked the clip and more than 4,500 commented offering support and, in some cases, to take him off their hands.
A life-changing clip
Thanks to the viral video and overwhelming support from the online community, hundreds of people have lined up to give him a permanent home.
A follow-up clip offering more details about Bob was posted to social media.

Ms Zeilinger, the pooch’s foster mama, confirmed that Bob has 'a lot of applications now’ and extended the invite to more potential adopters in a bid to find a perfect match.
Despite the setback, Bob just needs a loving owner 'with a lot of patience' as he is 'very timid'.
Thanks to the viral video, the social media-famous dog is one step closer to finding happiness.
