What happened to Chanel’s tail?
The owner of Chanel, the Shih-Poo which is a mixed breed combining a Shih Tzu and a poodle, explained in the TikTok video that her pooch was acting weird. The pet’s tail was ‘curled down’ and every time Chanel tried to lift it in the slightest bit, she would start howling.
The dog’s owner was sure something was wrong and didn't mind splashing the $145 / £120 on a vet visit for some peace of mind.
Upon examining Chanel, the medical specialist came back with a flabbergasting diagnosis. The pooch had simply wagged her tail so much out of happiness that she had over-wagged it, making it sore.
What is the canine ‘happy tail’ phenomenon?
Referencing the vet's iconic discovery, Chanel's owner wrote via on-screen text that her pup ‘just lives too good a life.’
Though it may be painful for the animal at the moment, the diagnosis is a relief for her family as there is no real reason for concern. The dog simply suffers from too much happiness.
The clip, which has over 19 million views, has users in tears and shaking their heads in agreement.
In the comments section, people joke and discuss the ‘happy tail’ phenomenon, with one woman who works for a vet even reporting that she once had to amputate a dog's tail because it had wagged too much.
There is such a thing as too much happiness.
