We all express affection differently. Kisses are natural for humans but are they as natural for cats?

Do cats like to be kissed?
According to animal behaviourists, some cats don’t mind kisses, while others hate them. But even if you have a kitty who isn't against your smooches, they don’t understand them as signs of affection. To them, a kiss is no different than a scratch of the belly, a pat on the head, or just about any other form of physical contact. Besides, some cats simply don’t like being that close to their human counterparts.
If your cat doesn’t like your kisses, they’ll shy away or even lash out. But most will be fine with your smooches for as long as they’re not more interested in doing something else at that exact moment.
Do cats like to be hugged?
Some cats are fine with hugs but only if you don’t restrict their freedom of movement for too long. Hugs are naturally constricting, and when you consider how small your cat is, it essentially immobilises them.
Chances are, your cat will enjoy other means of affection more.
How to show affection to your cat?
Cats love treats. Whether it’s catnip, turkey-flavoured cushions, or anything else, giving your cat a few extra treats throughout the day is a great way to show your cat affection. Just ensure that you don’t overdo it to keep them within the healthy weight range.
You can also show your love by giving them as much of your time as possible. Whether it’s pettingthem or playing with them, your cat understands when they have your attention, and it’s something that they enjoy.
How does your cat show affection?
Nuzzling, smacking you with their tail, or simply rubbing up against you are the ultimate signs your cat loves you. It’s their way of grooming you and showing you’re their family.
If your cat is actively seeking you out in the house just to be around you, that’s also a clear-cut sign of affection.
Your fluff-ball might enjoy sleeping on top of your head and face. While it may be very uncomfortable for you, it also means love.
Giving presents is one more way your kitty shows how much they appreciate you. Not all cat owners enjoy it when their pets bring dead animals for gifts but the message is clear: you’re in their heart.
