An unbelievably emaciated pup was placed in an Aldi yellow shopping bag for life and callously dumped ‘like a piece of rubbish’ in a park. Upon discovery by a local, he was rushed to the vet and put ‘on a drip and medication’. The RSPCA launched an appeal, in a bid to find the cruel pet owner behind the crime.

'Skin and bones'
The bull terrier type dog thought to be only one to two years old was found by a member of the public at around 7 am at a park in Vermont Grove, Peterborough, England. The pup was lying inside a yellow Aldi bag for life. He looked like ‘just skin and bones with every rib visible’ and was rushed to a local vet.
The pooch, now named Stanley, was extremely emaciated, with sores all over his body. Sadly, it’s not known at this point if he will pull through.
The RSPCA is appealing for information to locate the cruel owner of the pooch.
‘It’s truly shocking’
RSPCA inspector Justin Stubbs who is investigating the incident described it as one of the worst cases he's ever been called to deal with.
He said:
I was horrified to see the condition in which this dog had been abandoned - he looked like he was just hours from death and was just skin and bone. It made me feel sick. I just cannot believe someone could be this cruel to just abandon a dog in such a poor state. He was inside a bag like a piece of rubbish - it's truly shocking.
Stanley is being given the best care by a dedicated and already emotionally involved team of vetsand nurses. He has been bathed and is ‘on a drip and medication’.
The rescue team hope that Stanley will make it but know that ‘only time will tell’.
Justin Stubbs added:
I am keen to find the person who did this and I'm hoping someone may provide me with information about this. I'd like to hear from anyone who recognises Stanley - somebody must know who owns him.

Cruelty on the rise
This horrendous case comes at a time when the RSPCA is more overwhelmed than ever. The charity is asking for public support in its Cancel Out Cruelty campaign to continue helping animals and investigating those responsible for awful attacks. This sad incident reminds us why this campaign is so important.
The RSPCA received 1,081,018 calls to our Cruelty Line in 2021 and these included reports of 1,094 killings or nearly three animals killed a day, 632 mutilations or 12 animals brutally mutilated every week and 7,857 beatings which equate to nearly one animal beaten every hour.
