The Siberian Husky's very thick coat makes it very resistant to extreme temperatures. And for good reason, the breed originates from the Kamchatka Peninsula, in Eastern Siberia. It is the Chukchi people who bred the Husky to its present form. By eliminating the aggressive elements of the litters, the people made them a perfect breed for work, and pet for children.
The Siberian Husky is indeed a breed with gentle and rather sociable behaviour. It is generally the perfect pet for children but you shouldn't make a watchdog of your Husky because they are not particularly suspicious about strangers or even other dogs. Huskies can have a tendency to run off because they love the great outdoors. Huskies are still frequently used to pull dog sleds in the Arctic regions of the globe.
