At the age of four months, these puppies looked like they were six weeks old.

Unable to walk and with no muscles on their backs, these dogs were callously dumped in a drain. The rescue that took them in doubts that these poor pooches have ever had the normal lifepuppies are meant to have.

Something was very wrong with these puppies

Ren's Rescue took in these poorly puppies after a man called the charity on December 27 to tell them that the pets his daughter rescued from a drain did not look like they were doing well. According to the family, ‘something was very wrong’ with the pooches.

Pamela Maunsell, General Manager and chair of trustees at Ren's Rescue said the puppies looked like they were six to seven weeks old, but in reality, they were actually four to five months old.

The dogs, believed to be American Bulldogs, were starving and appeared to be in very poor health when the charity took them in.

Sadly, two of them died shortly after, and one remains in critical condition.

But that was not all.

HUNT FOR PUPPIES MOTHER AND THEIR ABUSER As most of you know we took in six severely neglected puppies, two of whom didn’t make it. The remaining four are now in the care of the RSPCA who are opening an investigation. We need your help to find the mother of these puppies. She will need our help both now and to prevent her from being abused in the future. We also need help to find the people who are responsible for the criminal neglect of these pups, so that the RSPCA can prosecute. The chances are that the mother won’t have been seen much outside the house where she was kept, so it will be hard to find her and the people who have caused this abuse. But someone will know who they are. Someone will know that their friend or neighbour is breeding puppies and not looking after them and we need that someone to report them. The vet thinks that the puppies may be American Bulldogs and although they look about 6/7 weeks old, they are in fact about 4/5 months old The best place to report them is the RSPCA on their helpline number 0300 1234 999 quoting incident number 1008043, or if you feel reluctant to talk directly to the RSPCA you can contact us on 07477 461 481 and we will pass on any information (anonymously if you prefer) Of course, if you know of similar cases, please contact the RSPCA helpline. PLEASE share this post as widely as possible. We need to reach everyone in Hull to find that one person who knows where the perpetrators are and is willing to report them. I am sharing the brief video of the pups again because not everyone has seen it and they need it to identify the puppies, and so potentially their mother and their breeder. Rest assured the puppies are now in the safest hands possible and receiving 24/7 vet care

‘I doubt they have ever been out or seen the sun’

Maunsell noticed that puppies’ development had been severely stunted because of the neglect they have endured.

She said:

We are desperately trying to find who their mother is. Someone somewhere must know who has bred them. These puppies have been maltreated over a considerable period of time.

According to Maunsell, dogs have got no muscles on their back. Their nails have never been worn down, so they've never been able to walk around.

She added:

I doubt they have ever been out or seen the sun because they have rickets which is caused by a vitamin D deficiency.

The charity is now desperate to locate the owner of the pets, as well as the mummy dog fearing that they ‘will be breeding from her again’.

The puppies have now been handed to the RSPCA York who are investigating the situation. The pooches are currently with a vet and are getting 24-hour care.

Maunsell concluded:

If they make it, they will be rehomed from there.

If you have any information on where the puppies came from or who their mother is, please contact the RSPCA's Animal Cruelty Line at 0300 124 999.
