Sadly, more and more dogs across Britain end up on the streets and eventually in shelters due to the cost of living crisis and the financial hardship their owners face. Animal welfare officers handlepet suffering and abandonment cases on a daily basis and some believe they’ve ‘seen it all’. But this pooch’s story shocked even the most conditioned of them.

Abandoned to die
A dog - who was described as a grey and white XL bully-type - had been found abandoned in a remote part of Barrow Hill, Derbyshire, England in sub-zero temperatures.
The pooch was deliberately taken deep in the woods, tied to a tree and left to die.
RSPCA inspector Thea Kerrison called the shocking incident ‘heartbreaking’.
She said:
The area where he was abandoned is remote and he was tied to a tree which wasn’t near a pathway - so whoever did this cruel act likely did so with the intention of the dog not being found.
According to Kerrison, the pooch was found lying down on his side ‘as though he had gone to sleep’.

RSPCA inspector added:
It was so cold on the day he was found - temperatures were -5C. It is unbearable to think how scared he must have been.
Tragically, the dog sadly succumbed to the freezing temperatures and died, whilst waiting to be found.
The RSPCA are appealing for information
The RSPCA are now appealing for any information in a bid to find the dog's cruel owners.
Although the pet was microchipped, the registered address doesn’t exist and the mobile number doesn’t work.
Kerrison commented:
The dog was microchipped and we have made enquiries; however, the address on the chip doesn’t exist and the mobile number doesn’t work. But whoever abandoned the dog has to be someone local to know of this remote area.
Anyone who has any information on the incident is urged to contact the RSPCA on 0300 123 8018 in the UK.
