If you prefer casual strolling, a light game of fetch, and plenty of cosying on the sofa, these breeds might be the right choice for you. They won’t exhaust you.
Golden Retriever
Golden Retrievers are one of the top calmest and gentlest dogs. They are intelligent, playful personalities that bond well with children and other animals. These pooches have a long-fuse and peaceful demeanour that makes them ideal companions for any family.
Though goldens are a relatively active breed that enjoys some form of exercise or activity and will be happy to come along on a jog or hike with you, they won’t eat your neighbour’s chickens and will be equally happy indoors by your feet.
English Bulldog
Don’t be fooled by their characteristic grimace - English Bulldogs are one of the sweetest, most loving breeds out there. After baiting sports were outlawed in the early 1800s, their primary purpose was as companions, and they make kind, peaceful, resolute, and courageous pets.
Though it’s easy to write these hefty pups off as lazy, they don’t mind some moderate exercise.
Basset Hound
Owners of the most adorable puppy eyes, Basset Hounds have outstanding ears too as they hang so low that you can tie them in a bow. You’d succeed if you tried as Basset Hounds are that tolerant.
Though these pooches can be stubborn and tricky to train, they love to cuddle up on the couch and lounge all day.
Newfoundland
The ‘Newfie’ can sometimes be mistaken for a furry throw rug on your floor or your couch - this much they enjoy stretching around in their dolce-far-niente in your house.
While they are a pretty large breed, these fuzzy pooches don't get worked up easily and are a perfect addition for a bit more zen in your family.
Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
These small dogs with deep kind eyes are loving cuddlers with a friendly disposition. While they gladly complete their daily walks and games of fetch, they were bred to be lap dogs, and prefer to be with you most of the time. They make excellent couch potato buddies.
