Well, if there was ever a real-life reenactment of it, this would be it as this footage gathers an exhilirating stand-off between the royalty of the jungle and the beast of prey as this lion finds himself cornered by a cackle of hyenas - but he's got some friends.

The extraordinary footage was filmed by 19-year-old Amber Soames in Kruger National Park, South Africa, who "knew something awesome was going to go down" as she began filming. As the male lion reaches a point of desperation, his angry roars imminently call out for the female members of the pride to come pouncing for his rescue - just like Mufasa did for Simba.
It isn't long before the lions send the hyenas clambering in retreat as the King of the Jungle walks out in victory. Amber managed to catch the aftermath where the lions regrouped and fell asleep by the riverbed. Catch the full stand-off in the video...
