Escape from home

Karlene and family said they were really perturbed after the bird escaped their residence last Thursday.

While Karlene was having a cup of tea with her husband Jamie in the kitchen, the fast-talking-parrot made a quick run and flew out of an open door.

However, Grey didn't go quite the distance, as it afterwards settled in a nearby tree.

Karlene said:

We tried to call him, but he refused to come down, we put his cage in the garden to try and entice him and kept calling him all evening. The very next morning, around six o'clock, my husband and I went out to have a look for him.
We found him quite quickly in a tree, he responded to us, and we called him, but still he wouldn't come down. He was flying over the top of our house for hours, he was calling my son in the air going 'Callum, Callum!' and it was quite funny.
At that point we were quite happy because he knew his surroundings.

The family said they were hopeful that he would eventually come down, but Grey seemed to get scared by another bird and disappeared.

They were devastated to discover that their beloved parrot was missing and took to social media to try and find him.

Lost but found

Thankfully, two days later, the family were left surprised when Callum found Grey on the British Transport Police's Twitter page.

The force tweeted:

Urgent tweet! Officers came across a missing parrot today at Waterloo Station.
If this parrot is yours, or you know someone who has lost theirs, please get in touch ASAP.

Officers found him sitting on the shoulder of a deep sleeper. Karlene revealed they took him in, and he happened to become great friends with two of the male cops.

Now, Grey keeps imitating noises from the Underground. Karlene said:

He has done the tube 'bing-bong' noise a few times, and keeps telling us to 'keep left'.

The parrot also sometimes makes a low whistling noise which sounds like trains rattling through the tube.
