A man 'fighting' with a shark on a New York beach

The man ran towards the shark that seemed to have washed up on the shore, to come to its rescue. However, the images do not speak in his favour. As you can see below, he headed toward the shark for no apparent reason and tried several times to pull it out of the water.

As the British media outlet, The Independent pointed out, a closer look at the footage revealed that the shark had in fact been caught on a hook, which the man was simply trying to remove.

'The shark was released unharmed!'

The man finally managed to stabilise the shark on the sand and then, with the help of another man, removed the hook. They reassured their viewers via their caption that the shark was unharmed:

The shark was released unharmed!
