Dumped in the car park
Mimi underwent a 'horrible' ordeal after she had been heartlessly ‘thrown into a rescue centre's car park’ in Liverpool, England. The pet was discovered by staff starting their morning shift. The traumatised pet could have spent the night there.
According to the facility, ‘poor girl' was absolutely terrified and 'would not let anyone near her' at first. But as the kennel staff 'spent as much time as possible with this little lady', she started to slowly warm up to them.
Mimi is also told to be 'in quite a bad state' and 'in desperate need of a groom' as she is struggling to see because of her matted fur.
Despite being microchipped, Mimi had never been registered, making it impossible to locate her owners. The rescue doesn’t know much about the pooch yet ‘as she is still recovering from her ordeal’. She doesn’t seem to have any health problems but is yet to have a full check with the vet.
Debbie Hughes from the centre said:
I can't imagine what she has been through. This is the worst thing you can do, abandon an animal in incredibly distressing circumstances like this.
Unprecedented demand: reach out for support
The rescue told the ECHO that they see the results of the cost of living crisis every day. They admit that ‘things have been getting worse since the beginning of the year’ as they used to see dogs abandoned every week, but now witness several cases daily.
Debbie Hudges said:
This must have been the last resort but our advice to every single pet owner is to please talk to someone. Everyone is facing some heartbreaking decisions at the minute but please reach out for support.
