Abyssinian
One of the oldest cat breeds, the stunning Abyssinian has a silky, textured coat in rich orange-brown colour with black ticking and huge expressive eyes. The combination gives the coat an iridescent radiance unmatched by any other cat.
These energetic kitties are lean and muscular, and closely resemble the felines in paintings and sculptures of Ancient Egypt’s cats.
Siamese
The most recognized feline beauty, the highly vocal, satin-coated Siamese are described as ‘the essence of balance and refinement’. With sleek, tubular builds, large pointy ears and a true triangular head, Siamese were the cats of royalty in ancient Siam, modern Thailand, working as palace guards.
Turkish Angora
The longhaired Turkish Angora are distinguished by their full neck ruff, silky coat, long full tail and tufted ears. These fluffy kitties are elegant and graceful with a fascinating history.
They come from both Persia and Eastern Turkey and were first seen in Europe in the 16th century, looking very much like they do today.
Bengal
The Bengal cat is one of the most attractive and intelligent exotic species. It has a distinctive coat that references its Asian leopard parent. As a result, this cat literally looks like a miniature Bengal tiger.
Even though these cats look wild, they are actually very sweet and gentle to be around.
Selkirk Rex
Selkirk Rex breed, with its luscious, long curly-haired coats, is by far one of the cutest cats you’ll ever see. Though these felines are medium-sized, their rich ‘outfit’ makes them look larger.
The history of the breed started in 1987 with one unique kitty named Miss DePesto. She was the only one in her litter blessed with jaw-dropping curly hair. When breeder Jeri Newman saw the cutie, he adopted her and bred more unusual fluffies.
Persian
The remarkable coat of the Persian cat has more than 80 colour variations including white, black, blue, chocolate, red, cream, silver and lilac. These long-haired and elegant pets originated in Persia, modern Iran, and are one of the oldest cat breeds in the world. They have fascinating eyes too - deep blue, blue-green or brown.
