Abandoned mama with cropped ears
Madge, a 3-year-old Staffy cross breed, came into Good Life Dog Rescue heavily pregnant as her cruel owners abandoned her when she most needed them. She was not microchipped, and the charity knows little of her past life.
To the charity's heartbreak, this pup had her ears cropped in a ‘very sickening and absolutely horrendous’ surgery.
Dog ear cropping is an unnecessary and cruel treatment that can impact animals’ health for the rest of their lives. It’s painful and involves a dog’s outer ears being cut off or removed completely. This barbaric procedure has no other purpose than to make a dog look menacing or fierce. Ear cropping is illegal in the UK.
'An absolute sweetheart'
Despite having gone through this traumatic experience and having been abandoned, Madge didn’t lose faith in humans. She is super loving and friendly and adores people. According to Good Life Dog Rescue, she became a favourite with all its volunteers.
The charity wrote on their website:
Madge is an absolute sweetheart. She is gorgeous and one loving friendly lady. She also adores ice cream almost as much as a cuddle.
Madge's ideal home: 'A big freezer full of doggy ice-cream'
Madge has spent way too much time in a shelter and is longing for a loving forever home.
Her ideal owner will have experience in rescue dogs and make this chunky lady feel special regardless of her ‘drooping undercarriage’.
As Madge is a very sociable dog, she will appreciate the attention of her special human and her own place on the sofa in the living room.
Her perfect family will have no other pets, especially cats, or small children, so Madge can be given a solo act for the first time in her life.
Her future owner will also need to take into account that Madge's cropped ears make it difficult for her to communicate with other dogs effectively, and it can be tricky for other animals to read her.
Despite her chunky flame, the pup walks well on her lead and will enjoy daily walks with her family. But what she will love even more is a big freezer full of doggy ice cream.
Good Life Dog Rescue is a small volunteer-based charity. You can learn more about their rescue work and support them on their website.
