The neglected pooch is currently cared for by the vets while the whereabouts of her puppies are unknown.
The RSPCA is investigating this blatant case of animal cruelty.
Found tied to a tree
A two-year-old Staffordshire bull terrier was found tied to a tree in a wooded area at Anfield Sports Club, Liverpool, England. A passerby heard the pup whimper as he walked home in the early hours of the morning. After returning to the scene at 5am to investigate further, the kindhearted man contacted the RSPCA.
The pooch looked frightened, neglected, and skinny.
Named Ann by rescuers, she was rushed to the vet who discovered that the poor dog has recently given birth.
The whereabouts of her puppies are unknown
According to the RSPCA, Ann ‘has clearly been neglected’. Her teats were swollen and she still had milk which indicated her very recent separation from her puppies.
Appalled by the cruelty and concerned for their well-being, the charity opened an investigation in a bid to locate the culprit.
RSPCA Inspector Nadine Penguily said:
I am concerned that someone could just abandon her in this state and am also worried for the welfare of her puppies.
The charity suspects the puppies could be sold, with a criminal ‘making their money’ and dumping Ann.
Appeal for information
RSPCA Inspectors are keen to hear from anyone who may know who is responsible for dumping the poor pooch ‘in such an irresponsible way’. As she is ‘quite a distinctive’ dog with a black patch over one eye, they believe there should be witnesses and plead for them to come forward.
Penguilty said:
She is super-friendly and in spite of what she has been through is very loving.
Ann is now cared for by Greater Manchester Animal Hospital until she is ready to be rehomed.
The charity fears thatthe cost of living crisis will lead to more pets being abandoned or given away because owners don't know where to turn.
