The charity that took him in is heartbroken to see this adorable pooch miserable and is therefore determined to find him a loving home as soon as possible.
‘Britain’s loneliest dog’
Charlie, the nine-year-old crossbreed, lived in a house of domestic abuse before he arrived at RSPCA Brent Knoll Animal Centre back in September 2021. The charity was sure that this adorable and affectionate pooch wouldn’t have a problem finding a forever home, but sadly, 500 days later, he is still longing for a loving family.
‘Shy but sweet’ Charlie unintentionally became ‘Britain’s loneliest dog’ but his carers are not planning to give up on him.
Andy Cook, Behaviour & Welfare Advisor at RSPCA North Somerset Branch said:
It's safe to say that this boy is a special lad and is the team’s favourite. However, as much as we all adore Charlie, we would love nothing better than to see him in a wonderful new home.
According to Cook, they can’t understand why the pooch has not yet been adopted and really hope that ‘someone out there will give this gorgeous rescue dog the second chance he needs’.

‘He’s such a playful and affectionate dog’
As Charlie came to the shelter after living in a home where there was domestic abuse and aggressive confrontation, he can sometimes be worried by unfamiliar people, especially men. He loves being around people once he gets to know them.
The adorable dog craves contact and companionship and wants nothing more than cuddling up on the sofa.
Cook added:
He’s such a playful and affectionate dog who deserves to find his special place in someone’s heart and home.
Alongside cuddles, Charlies also enjoys playing and messing around with his squeaky toys.
The charity said the pooch would do best as an only dog in an adult-only home or a family with older children.
Experience in handling anxieties and knowledge of how to build confidence would be beneficial too.
