Hilda may lose an eye
Hilda, a 3-year-old collie, came to Good Life Dog Rescue as a stray dog several months ago. She has been homeless for a while now and struggles in the kennels. Described as ‘beautiful, very friendly and super loving’, the pup is blind in her left eye. She also only eats on one side of her mouth and leans on the side when she walks too. Despite multiple vet checks, it was impossible to establish if this imperfection was present at birth or is a result of a trauma.
The rescue wrote on their website:
Hilda is absolutely lovely and so very pretty. Her eye does not bother her at all however our vet has suggested that it may be best for the eye to be removed.
Despite her unique one-sidedness, Hilda is in good health and has a lot of doggy years ahead of her.
Hilda's walk can only be described as a scurry. On arrival at Good Life Dog Rescue, she was unable to walk properly on a lead, possibly due to her sight loss and her leaning to one side, but she made great progress thanks to training.
Looking for a loving forever home
The shelter is desperate to help Hilda and is looking for a foster home or a very loving and dedicated human for her.
The gorgeous pup enjoys walking and the outdoors, so her ideal human will do too.
She has shown no issues with other dogs at kennels although she has been ‘known to put some dogs in their place if they over-sniff her’.
The shelter added:
We feel she may be happiest as an only girl with centre stage from her human.
As there is no history of Hilda’s past, it is not clear if she has ever been living with children. Good Life Dog Rescue would prefer to re-home her with an older family only and someone that has experience in owning rescue dogs.
The charity wrote:
Rescue animals need time to desensitise back into a home. They need love and patience and a less busy home environment without pressure. If you feel you are the love match and home for Hilda, we would love to hear from you.
