‘Lexi is a gorgeous girl’
Lexi is currently being cared for by the animal welfare team at Dogs Trust Evesham, while she is on the lookout for a warm bed and cosy sofa to snooze on.
According to Chris Slight, the shelter's manager, the pooch is ‘a gorgeous girl who would like a home in a quieter area as she isn't a lover of noisy traffic’.
He added:
Lexi can live with children of secondary school age and will make a lovely family pet.
The good girl would love a secure garden and be the only pet in the home so she can lap up all the love on offer.
More and more pets get abandoned
Dogs Trust, the UK's largest dog welfare charity, cares for around 14,000 dogs of all ages, shapes and sizes every year at its 22 rehoming centres.
But 2022 has been an exceptional year with the charity receiving a record number of calls from people having to face the heartbreaking decision to hand over their pets.
Dogs Trustis urging people to remember that 'a dog is for life, not just for Christmas' and is hoping that if people are considering welcoming a dog into their lives, they choose to adopt a homeless hound.
The charity's operations director Adam Clowes says:
Our kennels are at capacity and we are concerned that as fewer people can afford to welcome a dog into their life, we will face a housing crisis for dogs in the coming months, which is a tragedy for both dogs and owners.
The shelter encourages anyone to consider fostering or adopting a pet and give them 'another chance to be happy at the heart of a loving home.’
