It is recommended to keep your phone’s operating system updated. But sometimes, an update could mess up some settings on your device. ‘Looking for Android Auto’
Scores of users have taken to Google forums to report they keep receiving a notification that reads, ‘Looking for Android Auto’even if the device is not connected to a head unit, Auto Evolution reported. One such frustrated user wrote:
Since my Pixel 6 Pro got Android 13 two days ago, I am getting a frequent notification 'Looking for Android Auto' when I am not in my car. Android Auto works when in the car wirelessly and wired. It should not be constantly trying to connect when I am not in the car.
And they were right, it should not! Other users chipped in to add that they were experiencing the same thing and suspected the annoying pop-up was responsible for draining their battery juices faster than normal. Auto Evolution explains that this theory is plausible.
The longer the Bluetooth search takes, the bigger the impact on battery life, so unless the aforementioned workaround does the trick, users need a patch as soon as possible.
Fix?
Right now, some users have figured out that turning off Bluetooth makes the message disappear only to come back when Bluetooth is on. The other reason why this is not the ideal fix is that it does not seem to work on all devices.
Responding to questions on the Google forum, a member of the Android Auto team assured that the issue has been escalated. It remains unclear when a permanent fix will be found.
