There's an option on every Android that will significantly improve your battery life and that's stopping background app refresh.
Background app refresh
Background app refresh is a feature that allows apps to update their content online even when not in use. It is useful as it makes using apps more streamlined due to all the updates and content loading having finished before you even start using the app but it does have a few disadvantages as well.
Whilst the setting is great for improving the efficiency and usability of your phone, the two main drawbacks are that it is constantly using both battery power and data even when it’s in your pocket. Turning the feature off is good if you want to reduce your mobile data usage or increase the life of your battery, as per MUO.
How to change the settings
The TikToker gives advice on how to optimise your phone’s settings to get the most out of your battery.
First, go to Settings on your phone and then click on ‘Apps & notifications’.
Then go to our installed apps and click ‘App info’ and all the apps on your Android device will pop up.
The TikToker says, as per The Sun:
Now you'll need to do this with every app you use very frequently. So I use Canva almost everyday so I'm going to go to Canva and press Advanced and then there is an option called Battery.
To stop the app from using the battery in the background, click on ‘Background restriction’ and then click ‘restrict’. Then do this for all the apps that you use frequently and you should see a major improvement in the battery life of your phone.
