First generation iPhone

Apple is one of the top leading smartphone-retailing companies in the world. It has been launching the latest models of iPhones almost every year since the late 2000s. Not only does it have a rather high retail price for the latest models, but its older models are worth even more than the new ones.

An equivalent of a collector's item, an unopened iPhone that’s still in its original factory-sealed box was sold for an astonishing price of more than $39,000. According to Business Insider, the 2007 first-generation model was originally worth $599 back in the day but now the price has excessively amplified.

Sold for more than $39,000

The auction for the iPhone went live on LCG Auctions on September 30 and it took almost a month to wrap up. The bidders were outbidding each other in the conquest to achieve the prize item. As the final days of the auction approached, people went crazy in order to win the iPhone. At last, the auction was wrapped up on 16th October.

The iPhone was sold for a staggering $39,339.60 to the lucky winner and the seller who sold it was even luckier. Although the old-school iPhone lacked the technically advanced smartphone features of today, it certainly did bring many new changes into the smartphone industry during those times like multi-touch and many more.
