Since its acquisition by Facebook, WhatsApp has made respecting the privacy of its users one of its main concerns, at least in terms of communication. However, despite the platform's best efforts, it is still possible for someone with malicious intent to monitor your messaging activity. For example, through applications such as ChatW, a (very) intrusive tool that tells its users when their contacts are online, or even when several of their friends are chatting with each other.

How to know if you are being spied on on WhatsApp
Without becoming paranoid, it would not be totally abnormal for you to feel spied on, or even spied on when you go on WhatsApp. If you want to be sure, here are some tips that should help you confirm your fears:
- The person you suspect is invariably online when you are too
- The same person sends you a message at the exact moment you go online
- The individual consistently comments or notices your profile or status updates
- This person immediately reads every message you send them, which is indicated by a blue tick
- This person is always (or often) first on the list of 'people who have seen my status'.
Control who sees your status
For this last point, a small adjustment is necessary to know who has recently seen your WhatsApp status update. You need to go to the 'Settings' tab, then go to the 'Account' section and finally explore the 'Privacy' options. Once there, you just have to go to the bottom of the page and check the 'Read confirmations' option.
Once you've done this, you'll be able to see who is viewing your status updates, and even how many times each of your contacts has viewed your story. How convenient!
