3 mistakes everyone makes when loading the dishwasher

1. Not rinsing your dishes beforehand

This is one of the most common problems. If you don’t rinse your dishes after you have finished your meal and put them straight in the dishwasher with food still on them, the dirt and food residue will get inside your dishwasher and clog up the filter. And as a result, your dishes and other kitchenware won’t be cleaned properly when you put the dishwasher on. Even if you have the best dishwasher tablet on the market! It’s worth a quick rinse, don’t you think?

2. Loading your cutlery incorrectly

This might seem obvious and yet, people still do it. Rather than loading your cutlery in the dishwasher without a care in the world, you should always make sure that your knives, forks and spoons are loaded with the utensil end sticking up. Why? Because if not, your dishwasher is unable to clean them as thoroughly and food residue will collect and build up in the bottom of the little cutlery rack.

3. Loading your dishes the wrong way

If you want your dishes to come out the dishwasher sparkling clean, make sure to load them the right way. You should use the bottom tray for pots, pans and larger containers and the top for your glasses, mugs and bowls. Why? Very simply so that the jets in your dishwasher—which face the centre of the machine and shoot water from the bottom up—can reach all the dirt and clean everything properly. Duly noted.
