A child shoots his mother
The family was sitting in their car outside a Food for Less store when the boy found the gun and fired, hitting his mother, police said. The woman was shot in Dolton and pronounced dead at the hospital, according to The Guardian.
Dolton Gov. Andrew Holmes went to the supermarket on Sunday to hand out gun locks and talk to customers about the importance of gun safety. He said: ‘This could have been prevented.’
He added:
All it takes is one second: unlock it, put it through the barrel, bring it around, put it on and lock it again. If you leave it, secure it.
Authorities said the boy's father was in custody after indicating the gun belonged to him. As of Monday, no charges have been filed.

It all started during an argument over an order at a McDonald's drive-through in Midvale near Salt Lake City on Monday, February 21. A 27-year-old man, Sadaat Johnson, whowas accompanied by his two children, ages 3 and 4, lost his temper and pointed his firearm at several employees of the fast-food restaurant.
Unable to use his gun, the father of two asked his 4-year-old son, who was still in the back of the car, to shoot at police officers. However, one of the officers managed to give a blow to the weapon so that the bullet deflected and hit the awning of the restaurant.
