After being taken off his life support machine, Alfie Evans shocked everyone. Specialist and expert doctors were confounded by the fact Alfie was able to breathe of his own accord. After initially refusing to provide oxygen and fluids to Alfie, and after significant pleading from his family, the doctors decided to oxygenate Alfie’s body, earlier this week. Now the family want to bring Alfie home, stating that they are trained and have medically qualified doctors who can look after Alfie better than his current doctors.

In a recent Court of Appeal hearing however, the Evans family lost the appeal to bring Alfie home. The hearing held in London was heard by a panel of three judges. During the hearing it became apparent that Alfie’s Dad, Tom has sought to privately prosecute the doctors for conspiracy to murder. Although, it is thought his legal team believe the 21-year-old from Liverpool is a ‘desperate man clutching at straws’ and assure that ‘there is no hostility towards the NHS’.
