Discover the very practical method shared by Maison et Jardin magazine here:
First, grab a large pot and fill it with potting soil. Slice your overripe tomatoes and place them on the soil. Once you're done, cover them with potting soil or compost. Be careful not to use more than just a thin layer, so you don't smother the tomatoes. Also, if you want to, you can make your own fertilizer!
10 days later, you'll discover the fruit of your labor. Indeed, within one to two weeks, you'll be able to recover about fifty seedlings, which you can reuse as you wish.
