This is despite the fact that Johnson allegedly complained that as PM and an MP he couldn’t live on a combined salary of more than £160,000.
A source who worked under him at No 10 Downing Street claimed:
He used to say he was never being paid enough. He was so incredibly tight with money, jokes were made if his wallet ever came out.
Boris Johnson's wealth
However, according to the Mirror, Johnson is seemingly now richer than ever before.
Since he resigned five months ago, Johnson has reportedly earned over £3 million – a £2.5 million advance from the Harry Walker speaking agency in February 2023, and a £510,000 advance for his memoirs.
He has allegedly been living with his family in two rent-free properties owned by Tory donor Lady Bamford with an estimated rental value of around £13,500 a month. One is a cottage in the Cotswolds and the other is a townhouse worth £20 million London’s Knightsbridge.

Boris Johnson's £3.8 million mansion
Johnson’s new country home is near the Cotswolds cottage in neighbouring Oxfordshire. Named Brightwell Manor, it dates back to the 1600s and has Tudor and Georgian features.
The house is more than 8,000-square-feet and has nine bedrooms and five bathrooms. It also has six reception rooms, with numerous large entertaining spaces.
The manor is surrounded on three sides by a moat that’s 900-years-old. The property also boasts five acres of land, a guest cottage, garage, stables, a water garden, and tennis court.
The mansion was on the market for four years, and it is believed that Johnson and his wife Carrie saw it online and inspected it twice in person. Johnson reportedly negotiated £200,000 off the asking price.
Johnson’s opponents are apparently not happy about his latest spend. A Labour source said:
While Johnson enriches himself on the back of his failed premiership and splashes the cash, he continues to cream the public to pay for his Partygate legal bills.
Rishi Sunak is giving this disgraced former PM free rein to sponge off taxpayers.
