Brits in receipt of benefits warned payments may come on different dates in August, here's when

Households that claim benefits such as Universal Credit may see their money land in their account on a different day this month.

The reason for that is bank holidays that fall on Monday, August 28, for people living in England and Wales and Monday, August 7 for recipients in Scotland.

Benefits payments may arrive early this month

If you are due to receive your payments from the DWP on August 28 and reside in England and Wales or August 7 and you’re located in Scotland, you will likely get the money earlier than normal.

The reason behind it is that the benefits are not normally paid on a bank holiday.

If you expect the money in England and Wales on Monday, August 28, you’ll probably see them on your account the previous working day - Friday, August 25.

For those in Scotland and planning to cash in on Monday, August 7, your benefits will likely land on Friday, August 4.

If you're due to be paid on a different day, you won't need to do anything as the funds will clear the same day as usual.

No changes in the amounts were announced and they are expected to be the same.

Although getting paid early is a good thing, make sure you plan carefully so that the money lasts until the next amount arrives.

If you were expecting a payment and it didn't come, contact the relevant helpline on the next working day.

Keep in mind that Job Centres and phone lines are normally closed on all bank holidays.
