It has been recently revealed that the thieves are misusing the name of the company whose product went viral on the popular video-sharing platform and even set up a special website - with a name nearly identical to the original - to drive fake sales that result in clueless users losing money and getting nothing shipped to them.

Cyber security specialists urge billions of Google Chrome users to stay alert to not end up on this malicious website as it is easy to confuse with the legitimate one.

Scammers use fake Stanley website to steal your money

Google Chrome users are being urged not to perform a search for a scam website which pretends to sell original Stanley items but will instead deliver nothing - and steal your cash.

Stanley is a legitimate company that sells vacuum flasks, lunch boxes, coolers, and lots of other products, with some having become popular on TikTok.

The brand’s website Stanley1913.com has a good rating online and that’s where people can make purchases.

The scammers set up an alternative website - with ‘US’ in the middle - and drive fake sales that result in people getting nothing shipped to them.

An expert team behind Trend Micro, a popular cyber safety and security blog, warned against searching the phrase ‘Stanley1913US’ as it leads to the malicious website rather than the original one.

Until Google dealt with the problem, it is highly recommended to avoid the digital imposter that can steal your money.

Always be alert about the website name when shopping online

Most reputable brands pay a lot of money to make their website look legitimate and have a name that doesn’t cause confusion. Any additional numbers, letters or characters in the name should make you concerned.

In the case of Stanley, it’s the additional ‘US’ that gives away the scam. But sadly, it is not obvious to many people.

Another way to spot a fake website is to check its score on ScamAdvisor.

Stanley imposter has an abysmal one of just 1% which is a definitive proof that the site is not to be trusted.
