If Chrome is your main browser, you should make sure to install the latest update to stay protected online. The new update has the fix for a bug that makes the browser prone to attack by cyber criminals. The caution to update the browser was issued by Google which runs Chrome.

Bug fixed
The loophole was discovered by security experts at antivirus firm, Avast. The bug is considered so dangerous, it’s been rated as zero-day meaning the likelihood of it already being used by criminals is high. It’s why Google fast tracked its response to the discovery by coming up with this new fix as fast as it did. What this means is that once you install this update on your PC, hackers will not be able to attack you. According to Android Police which keenly follows developments at Google:
Chrome desktop users can now access the security update posted by the dev team, carrying the version number 107.0.5304.87/88.
Although Google was prompt in its response, the company is not disclosing further details about the bug or the fix.
The upgrade
Some industry watchers believe that this is the seventh zero-day exploit patched by Google this year. This is far less than the 58 bugs reported last year with the last one being in July when the Chrome dev team patched CVE-2022-2294, being used to target journalists in the Middle East, specifically Lebanon, Palestine, Turkey, and Yemen.
To make sure your Chrome browser is up-to-date, you should go to Settings and then About Chrome. You will need to relaunch Chrome for the changes to take full effect.
