Drinking gin and tonic could be the answer! There is a preventive medicine that is found in tonic water that was used during ancient times to avoid contracting Malaria.
1. History: The primary bug repellent ingredient is quinine which can be found in tonic water. Quinine comes from the bark of the cinchona tree that's found in Peru, South America which gives the drink a bitter taste. In the past, since the taste of tonic water was difficult to drink, the people ended up mixing it with a little bit of gin.
2. Gin industry: The sweet pine and soft citrus flavour is making waves and according to the Wine and Spirit Trade Association, the British gin industry has grown by 18% during the last two years.
