Following the sounds, the former President clutched his ear and dropped to the ground as security agents rush around him in a protective circle. An assassination attempt was made on Donald Trump.

Since the event, Trump has spoken about it and has talked about the odds of surviving the incident thanks to one simple movement. Moreover, both Trump’s wife, Melania, who has allegedly made a deal to not be First Lady full time and the current President, Joe Biden have spoken about the attempt on Trump’s life.

Donald Trump speaks about the assassination attempt

Donald Trump talked about the assassination attempt on his social media, Truth Social. He explained that he ‘knew immediately that something was wrong’ when he heard a ‘whizzing sound’.

I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin

The former President was interviewed by Washington Examiner, where he explained that his head must have been ‘at the exact right angle’ as the bullet only hit the top of his ear. Trump adds that the chart he was showing during the rally ‘saved his life’.

As reported by Newsweek, Trump said that it was ‘pretty amazing’ that he turned his head at the exact time and at the exact angle to avoid being shot directly in the head.

That I would turn exactly at that second, where he [the gunman] wouldn't stop the shot is pretty amazing. Pretty amazing. I'm really not supposed to be here.
The chances of my making a perfect turn are probably one tenth of one percent, so I'm not supposed to be here.

As per BBC News, Trump claimed he’s ‘supposed to be dead’ but despite the attempt on his life, he is still going to attend the Republican National Convention this week in Milwaukee.

Melania Trump and Joe Biden respond to the assassination attempt

Naturally, people around the world have reacted to the assassination attempt on Donald Trump—including his loved ones.

On Sunday, July 14, the day after the assassination attempt on Donald Trump, Melania shared a statement. She spoke about a ‘monster’ who saw her husband as ‘inhuman political machine’ as per New York Post.

She goes on to add that when the bullet hit Trump’s ear, she realised her and Barron’s life were ‘on the brink of devastating change’. Melania said she is ‘grateful’ to the secret service agents and the law enforcement officials who ‘risked their own lives’.

When I watched that violent bullet strike my husband, Donald, I realized my life, and Barron’s life, were on the brink of devastating change. I am grateful to the brave secret service agents and law enforcement officials who risked their own lives to protect my husband.

President Joe Biden has also broken silence on the attempt on Trump’s life. As per AP News, Biden said that even if political passions run high, people should ‘never descend into violence’. He goes on to add that the country is facing a ‘time of testing’ with the elections, but it isn’t an excuse to normalise violence.

All of us now face a time of testing as the election approaches. There is no place in America for this kind of violence — for any violence. Ever. Period. No exception. We can’t allow this violence to be normalized.
