Donald Trump reveals he won't run again in 2028, if defeated
The next presidential election in the United States will take place in about seven weeks, on Tuesday 5 November 2024. While tension has never been higher, especially after the two candidates' televised debate, Donald Trump continues to speak out freely. The former president recently accepted to be interviewed by Sharyl Attkisson, for the American magazine Full Measure, and made some unexpected revelations.
Indeed, Donald Trump was asked if he would run for president again, should he lose to Kamala Harris in November. The presidential candidate answered:
No, I don't. I think that that will be, that will be it. I don't see that at all.
So far, Kamala Harris is ahead in the polls, but in politics, anything can happen.
'If you're scared, you can't do your job'
Donald Trump was also asked about the recent attempts made on his life. Shortly after he was shot at during a rally in Pennsylvania, there was a second suspected assassination attempt made while he was in his golf course in Florida.
Considering the recent threats to Donald Trump's life, Attkisson argued he could be the 'most targeted president in American history', to which the former president answered:
You know, the only ones that really are trouble are consequential presidents. So in that way it's a very nice honor.
I understand countries, I understand who rips us and who doesn't. And a lot of people don't. A lot of people don't have a clue. They don't even know what's happening. And I think that I will feel safe. I think I'm gonna feel safe.
She then asked the politician whether he was scared for his life, following the several attacks made on his life in recent months. Donald Trump explained he did not feel scared, and he fully trusts his security team to protect him. He said:
I can't be scared because if you're scared, you can't do your job. So I just can't be. I have thus far had somebody protecting me because you almost think it couldn't have just been two times.
He then spoke about the incident in Butler, Pennsylvania, when 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks tried to murder him. The presidential candidate said that it only reminded him about what a good job he did with the immigration chart he was pointing at, and how he narrowly avoided getting a bullet to the head because of it:
And then of course, Butler, everyone knows about Butler. That was a quick turn of the head to show a chart that was a good immigration chart showed what a good job I did. But that will go down as my all time favorite chart.
