Donald Trump has been in the headlines over the last few weeks over several consecutive dramas. In the race for presidency, both he and President Joe Biden are attending rallies and giving speeches all over the United States. While Biden is known for making gaffes and losing his train of thought, Trump has made a name for himself as a controversial opinion-spouter and he continues to supply the goods.

Following his numerous legal challenges, Trump has caused a stir because of a comment he made during a recent rally. This is what he said, and how people have reacted.

Trump’s ‘bloodbath’ comment

Trump was speaking at a rally in Ohio on Saturday when he made a very dodgy comment. He told attendees that, if he loses against his Democratic rival President Joe Biden, there will be a ‘bloodbath’:

Now if I don't get elected, it's going to be a bloodbath for the whole—that's gonna be the least of it. It's going to be a bloodbath for the country. That will be the least of it.

His worrying choice of words quickly went viral online. His supporters have said they were taken out of context, while his critics made reference to his previous links to inciting violence in the 6 January 2021 Capitol riots.

How people have reacted

Glenn Kirschner is a former assistant U.S. attorney who often speaks out against Trump. On this occasion, Kirschner said on his Justice Matters podcast that Trump tried to ‘walk it back later saying he was really talking about what would happen to the auto industry if he wasn't elected’.

However, Kirschner said that the comments had obvious links to the January 6 riots because of the language used by the politician. Trump is accused of having incited the riots by spreading unfounded claims of voter fraud in the 2020 election. Kirschner stated:

He is a threat to everyone in the United States of America. He is a threat to democracy. He launched an attack on January 6 against our democracy and it turned out to be a deadly attack. And he launched it with far less inflammatory language than he just used at the rally on Saturday.

He went on: 'He's actually ratcheted up the recklessness and the violence of his rhetoric. And he's on pretrial release in four felony cases.'

Meanwhile, Trump’s communications director Steven Cheung has said that the former POTUS meant ‘economically it will be a bloodbath because Crooked Joe Biden's policies have decimated working families’.

This comes as the latest in a long line of scandals involving Trump and his family.
