Naturally, following the announcement, Donald Trump has been focusing on his potential new opponent, to whom he had once donate a large sum to, and one of his tactics is to give people nicknames. However, people have criticised Trump, saying that his nickname for Harris is ‘weak’. Moreover, Trump’s own niece, Mary, has claimed that the former President is terrified of Kamala Harris.
Mary Trump claims that Donald Trump is ‘terrified’ of Kamala Harris
As mentioned above, Mary Trump is Donald Trump’s niece. Unlike some members of her family, Mary has been critical of her uncle, and more recently, she has shared her thoughts on him and his potential new opponent, Kamala Harris, who has an massive net worth.
She recently wrote a post for her email newsletter, The Good in Us, where she claims that the former President ‘hates women (especially strong women) and minorities’, meaning that it would make sense that Trump is scared of Harris as she fits those criteria. She explains that Harris ‘terrifies’ Trump to the point that he doesn’t make sense:
Donald also hates women (especially strong women) and minorities, so you can see why current Vice President and presidential candidate Kamala Harris terrifies him to the point of incoherence.
She adds that her uncle spent two whole days trying to find ‘an angle of attack that would stick’ but ultimately failed. Therefore, he opted to give Harris a ‘childish’ nickname that makes her look good.
Faced with the reality that he is now running against a vibrant, intelligent, experienced woman who is fully two decades younger than he is, Donald spent Sunday and Monday flailing, trying to find an angle of attack that would stick.
His childish nickname for her is “laughing Kamala” because she feels joy, and joy is something he has never experienced and doesn’t understand.
People have criticised Donald Trump’s nickname for Kamala Harris
As per HuffPost, some people have criticised Donald Trump’s choice of nickname for Kamala Harris. Indeed, Trump is known for the nicknames he gives his opponents, he often refers to President Biden as ‘Sleepy Joe’ and he previously called Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis ‘Ron DeSanctimonious’, a nickname he has since stopped using.
However, for Harris, Trump chose ‘Laughing Kamala’ after making fun of her laugh during a rally. As per Huffpost, he said:
From the moment we take back the White House from Crooked Joe Biden and Kamala ― I call her ‘Laughing Kamala.’ You ever watch her laugh? She’s crazy. You can tell a lot by a laugh. No, she’s crazy, she’s nuts.
On social media, people have claimed that the former President has lost his touch as ‘Laughing Kamala’ is a ‘weak’ nickname. Users on X wrote:
I think laughing Kamala is the first true piece of evidence that he’s slipping. 2016 Trump would’ve had a nickname that resonated. Not the same dude anymore.
