Death of a loved one in a dream
Speaking toRefinery29 - Lauri Loewenberg, a dream analyst – confirmed that seeing a loved one die in your dream is not a premonition. She adds:
Dreams are symbolic — you can't look at them literally or you’ll freak yourself out. Death in dreams actually means there’s some sort of change or ending happening in your life.
To the subconscious mind, this represents the end of life ‘as you now know it.’
The loved one in the dream is usually used to represent a characteristic or a personal quality that you associate with them. Dream expert and psychologist Ian Wallace added:
Death of your loved one in your dream indicates that this particular quality that you possess is being transformed in some way. The transformation is often the result of a major change in your waking life where you have to let go of old habits and welcome new ways of doing things.
How does the loved one die?
What’s more interesting about death dreams of a loved one is the manner of death matters too. For instance, a natural death represents a change or ending that is happening naturally, whereas a murder represents a forced ending or cutting someone out of your life.
Dying dreams that take place in a hospital might signify an unhealthy dependency on the loved one. It also urges you to be more responsible and self-reliant. A death in a graveyard setting denotes that you’re subconsciously putting the past to rest.
