‘info re: President of France’
Donald Trump and French President, Emmanuel Macron, have a long and complicated history. The two initially bonded after Macron invited the newly-elected Trump to Bastille Day celebrations in France, followed by a falling-out when Trump refused to remain in a nuclear deal with Iran.
During and after his presidency, the mogul has claimed to have dirty details surrounding Macron’s sex life.
A file named ‘info re: President of France’ found in Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence by the FBI has many asking what secrets may be sealed within the documents.
The Guardiansays it is ‘unclear’ whether these documents – part of over 320 collected from the gigantic beach house – are classified or not. The contents also remain unknown; though a Rolling Stone report claimed that the seizure of the mysterious file caused a ‘trans-Atlantic freakout’.
Executive privilege or executive prevarication?
In response to the recovery of potentially-classified documents from Mar-a-Lago, Trump has argued that information contained fall within ‘executive privilege’ – i.e. it is within the public interest for it to remain secret – says CNN.
Yet, the question remains whether Trump’s supposed knowledge about Macron’s sex life is surefire or just another publicity stunt.
After all, his claim to fame was based on a conspiracy spread about Barack Obama’s birthplace, later alleging that Obama had also wiretapped New York’s Trump Tower.
While the public anxiously awaits the truth about the possibly-scandalous secrets contained within the file, a spokesperson for the French embassy stated:
The embassy has not asked the administration for any information concerning the documents retrieved at former President Trump’s residence.
