Fire brigade strike
In the midst of major industrial action, the Fire Brigades Union (FBU) has actually called off a planned strike after they were offered a revised pay increase following ongoing discussions with employers.
The FBU had rejected a previous offer but is now considering a new offer of a seven per cent pay rise backdated to July 2022 and then five per cent from July this year. The new deal will now be put to a ballot of union members, with the strikes postponed until the outcome. Matt Wrack, general secretary of the union, commenting on the action, as per The Independent:
This offer is a testament to the power of collective action through the Fire Brigades Union.
