Soon to be available on the play store
Truth Social, a product of Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), was launched back in February and was not available on Google's app marketplace due to alack ofcontent moderation.
Android phones account for 40% of all smartphones in the US, and the Google Play Store has been the primary app marketplace.
The lack of content moderation seemingly has been overcome
Truth Social marks the return of Donald Trump on a social media platform after he was banned by major tech outlets Twitter, Facebook, and Google for posting content that incited violence and led to the Jan. 6, 2021,US Capitol riots, Reuters reports.
Google initially refused to accept the alternative social media platform 'Truth Social' on their prominent app market due to concerns of lacking adequate moderation policies and mechanisms to prevent users from sharing violent content, CNNreports.
Truth Social had also been lacking a toolinside the app for users to report objectionable content.
A spokesman for Google said on Wednesday that TMTG has made the needed changes to the app clearing the way for Trump’s company to make available the app soon on the Play Store.
Trump Social, had already been available on iOS App Store and in Samsung’s Galaxy Store.
Donald Trump previously thanked Samsung for proceeding swiftly in making available Truth Social without any 'unnecessary delay or politics' involved, RSBNreports.
