The poinsettia is a beautiful plant that's extremely popular during the holiday season in many countries. It adds extra colour to any dull room and can bring huge smiles on your family's faces during Christmas.
The exotic plant is native to Mexico - the scientific name is Euphorbia pulcherrima, also known as the poinsettia. Many people think that the plant is poisonious but studies have confirmed that it's safe to have in your home as long as you don't consume it. However, the plant does contain a little sap which can be a skin irritant for several individuals. The poinsettia is cultivated primarily for their colourful leaves (red, pink, or white) and when the leaves start to fall, many believe it is dying. However, that's not always the case, try to refrain from tossing it in the bin.
Unfortunately, poinsettias have a short life cycle and can last up to 4-6 weeks. However, there's a clever tip that you can try to extend the duration. Watch our video to learn more.

3. Protect it from the draft: Don't place it near cold drafts (the door or an opened window) or excessive heat (oven, fireplaces, or other appliances).
4. It's all about the temperature: The plant doesn't tolerate temperatures below 12° - 15°. Monitor the temperature in your home accordingly.
