Over the Christmas weekend, the UK experienced mild weather as the Met Office provisionally confirmed that Christmas day was warmer than those previously recorded. Temperatures at places like Exeter Airport and East Malling in Kent did not fall below 12.4°C.

Those living in the highlands of Scotland did see some light snowfall, but the weekend most brought about a mixture of rain, snow, and sleet.
As we head into the New Year, it looks like bad weather is set to continue as the Met Office has issued fresh warnings for 26 and 27 December. Here's what you should expect today and tomorrow:
26 December: Ice
Following the light snowfall in Scotland, the Met Office has issued a yellow warning for ice from 7:40 PM on 25 December up until 10 AM today, 26 December, in the region. They said:
Ice is likely to develop as snow clears on Christmas Day night leading to some difficult travelling conditions
According to their website, you can expect icy patches on 'untreated roads, pavements, and cycle paths'. The icy surfaces could lead to injuries and slips.
27 December: Rain, wind, and snow
Yellow weather warnings have been put in place all day tomorrow in several parts of the UK.
In Scotland, rain and snow can be expected from 6 AM to 12 AM, and it could lead to some disruptions for the locals. The Met Office has warned that there is a 'small chance' of power cuts which could specifically affect rural communities.
There is small chance that homes and businesses will be flooded and people may also have to deal with travel delays. The Met Office reported:
There is a small chance of travel delays on roads with some stranded vehicles and passengers, along with delayed or cancelled rail and air travel.
In other parts of the UK, a yellow warning for rain has been issued for the following time periods:
- Wales: 12 AM to 6 PM
- Southwest England: 12 AM to 3 PM
- Northern England: 3 PM to 6 PM
Finally, the southern coast will experience strong winds from 3 PM to 6 PM and it could lead to travel disruption.
