There is yet another victim of police brutality who is currently fighting for his life. Emotions are running high in the state of Wisconsin, where the incident took place, as well as in other states and countries around the world. The footage of quite a surreal scene has managed to circulate the whole world. Jacob Blake, a 29-year-old African-American father was shot seven times in the back at gunpoint by a police officer.

Another act of police brutality? For many Americans, there is no doubt in their minds. Last night, a thousand protestors gathered near the Kenosha courthouse near the city of Milwaukee in support of Jacob Blake chanting ‘No justice, no peace!’ The tone has been set.
Although incidents like this are still a shock to us, for millions of citizens in the United States, it has almost become an everyday occurrence. For several months now, the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement has been gaining momentum and some celebrities have even decided to take a stand against racism and demand justice. And that is exactly what some are now doing in support of Jacob Blake.
Celebrities backing Jacob Blake
Outrage, anger and a lot of emotion. That is what most people feel after watching the footage of Jacob Blake. Several black stars from the NBA (The National Basketball Association) have even spoken out about the incident.
Among these stars is LeBron James, NBA superstar. Devastated by the events, the player decided to say his piece. On his Twitter account, he wrote:
And y’all wonder why we say what we say about the Police!! Someone please tell me WTF is this???!!! Exactly another black man being targeted. This shit is so wrong and so sad!! Feel so sorry for him, his family and OUR PEOPLE!!
Not only is he demanding justice for what has happened, but he is also demanding a profound change! On American television, he declared:
My prayers go to that family and hopefully we can have some change. I believe it starts with November and that’s why I started an initiative that I’m doing with ‘More Than A Vote’ and getting people to understand what’s really at risk.
'More Than A Vote’ is an associated created by artists and athletes, including LeBron James, which aims to encourage the African-American community to vote in the next presidential elections.
LeBron James isn’t the only celebrity to have voiced his opinion though. Other basketball players have also reacted, such as George Hill and Donovan Mitchell. In light of the events, it wouldn’t be surprising if a second unprecedented wave of protests broke out…
