Gun safety in the US has always been a hot topic for debate. Some call for stricter laws, others believe it is their right to carry a firearm. After the most recent shooting in Uvalde, Texas and in Buffalo, New York, more and more people are calling for stricter gun laws. President Joe Biden has signed a bill into law.

Signing the bill into law
On Saturday, June 25, President Joe Biden signed the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act at the White House by 234-193 votes, as reported by CNN.
The fact that this bill has been passed into law means that there will now be better gun safety. After President Biden signed the bill, he said:

I'd like to thank members of the House and Senate for working to get the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act done, and the families I've met with who lost loved ones to gun violence.

They led the way so other families won't have to experience the pain they had to live through.
What does this mean?
As mentioned before, access to guns will be more restricted. The Bipartisan Safer Communities Act fixes the ‘boyfriend loophole’ according to CBS. Indeed, the new law will mean that background checks on gun buyers (21 years old) will be much for extensive.
The new law ‘provides billions for mental health services’ and also prevents convicted domestic abusers from obtaining firearms for up to 5 years. Moreover, according to CBS, the new law also provides $750 million in grants to ‘incentivize states to start crisis intervention programs’.
