At the moment the diagnosis is still unknown but fans of the player and the English team are worried about what an injury could mean for the rest of the World Cup. Moreover, unfortunately for the English team, this doesn’t come at the best of times since the team has already been hit by numerous injuries.
What could this mean for the future of the Lionesses in the World Cup?
Keira Walsh in distress
The Women’s World Cup started last week and already multiple players have been hit by injuries. The latest one happened today, 28 July, during the match between England and Denmark.
Right before half time, tragedy struck the English team when midfielder, Keira Walsh had to be taken out on a stretcher. According to several sources, including The Guardian, the midfielder can be seen saying to the medical team:
I’ve done my knee.
Walsh could be another victim of the knee injury curse that has been hitting the English team these past few months. Indeed key players like Leah Williamson, Beth Mead and Fran Kirby are currently missing out on the competition because of knee injuries.
While at the moment Walsh’s diagnosis is still unknown, there is hope that she could recover, if not for the next match against China, maybe for the rest of the tournament. Indeed, after being carried out, she was seen coming back to watch the end of the game walking with crutches. She looked calmer than when she left the game which is a possible sign that her pain has reduced.

She has been one of the best, if not the best player, in this England side.It looks bad. You saw as soon as it happened she knew that it didn't look good
Teammates have also answered questions about the incident following the match and even the team’s manager is concerned pointing out that not being able to walk out is never a good sign.
That being said, the people who seem the most worried are fans and they’ve taken to Twitter to express their concern and support
