Kim Jong-un’s sister, Kim Yo-jong, has been dubbed the ‘Most Dangerous Woman in the World’ in a recent book published by Sung-Yoon Lee, a scholar and specialist on North Korea. The Sister details the vicious rule of the Kim family dynasty and explains just how dangerous the younger sister of the supreme leader really is.

Kim Yo-jong has accompanied her brother to his meeting with Vladimir Putin at the Vostochny Cosmodrome space centre in Russia. CNN has released an image that dates from today, 13 September, that shows Kim Yo-jong with Kim Jong-un as he signs the centre’s guestbook.
Kim Yo-jong's rise to the top
Kim Yo-jong is one of North Korea’s key political figures and advisors to her brother. From around 2014, she had been running the nation’s Propaganda and Agitation Department, whose goal is to indoctrinate North Koreans with state ideology, reports The Telegraph. In 2021, she became part of the nation’s top decision-making body, the State Affairs Commission, and has a reputation as a brutal leader. During her rise to the top, she has earned the nicknames ‘bloodthirsty demon’ and ‘devil woman’ from North Korean officials.
In the photo from CNN, she leans over her brother as he writes a message that reportedly reads:
The glory of Russia, which gave birth to the first conquerors of space, will be immortal.
Kim Yo-jong: 'Most Dangerous Woman in the World'
Professor Lee’s book focuses on Kim Yo-jong and her role as chairwoman of a state that keeps the rich rich and the poor starving. As the youngest of Kim Jong-il’s seven children, she was known as ‘sweet princess Yo-jong’ to her parents. Now, she’s known as the most dangerous woman in the world.
As the head of propaganda, she is tipped to be responsible for some of the worst slurs used by North Korea media to describe their enemies. President Obama was referred to as a ‘wicked black monkey’, and a gay High Court justice in Australia was described as a ‘disgusting old lecher with a 40-odd-year-long career of homosexuality’.
But she’ll go much further than name-calling. In 2021, Kim Yo-jong reportedly ordered the execution of officials who were ‘getting on her nerves’. Sources claimed she had been gathering data that indicated they were challenging the party’s authority, reported it to her brother, and ‘a series of executions of officials for being ‘anti-party revolutionists'' followed.
For now, Kim Yo-jong accompanies and advises Kim Jong-un, but she is widely considered to be a likely candidate to replace him when the time comes. She would be the first female supreme leader of North Korea in her nation’s history.
