Kim Jong-un's sister threatens 'overwhelming action'
Kim Yo-jong was responding to the US flying a nuclear-capable B-52 bomber over the Korean Peninsula in its latest joint military drills with South Korean warplanes on Monday 6 March.
Kim Yo-jong said in the statement carried by state media on Tuesday 7 March:
We keep our eye on the restless military moves by the U.S. forces and the South Korean puppet military and are always on standby to take appropriate, quick and overwhelming action at any time according to our judgment.
She then laid the blame on the US and South Korea for any potential escalatory measures taken by North Korea in the future:
The demonstrative military moves and all sorts of rhetoric by the U.S. and South Korea, which go so extremely frantic as not to be overlooked, undoubtedly provide (North Korea) with conditions for being forced to do something to cope with them.

North Korea warns US and South Korea of 'violent physical conflict'
The state-run Korean Central News Agency cited a separate statement by the head of North Korea’s Foreign Ministry which said:
Despite our repeated warnings, the US intentionally continues to aggravate the situation. The recent joint air drill... clearly shows that the US scheme to use nuclear weapons against the DPRK is being carried forward at the level of an actual war.
DPRK is an acronym for North Korea's official name, Democratic People's Republic of Korea. The statement echoed Kim Yo-jong's sentiment in blaming the US and South Korea for escalating tensions:
We express deep regret over the irresponsible and worrying muscle-flexing of the US and South Korea, which are constantly pushing the situation in the Korean peninsula to an unpredictable state.
The statement included North Korea's demand for 'an immediate stop to the military hostile acts of disturbing peace and stability in the Korean peninsula'. In addition, it warned:
If the dangerous military provocations of the US and South Korea continue... there is no guarantee that there will be no violent physical conflict in the Korean peninsula where huge armed forces of both sides are in acute confrontation.
It comes as Washington and Seoul announced on Friday 3 March that they will partake in over 10 days of large-scale military exercises from March 13 to 23.
