The discount store Lidl is once again in the headlines. In the UK, Lidl is currently launching a product recall of a different kind, because this time it is not about pesticide residues in fruit or listeria contamination. It's because of a link on the packaging of Paw Patrol snacks that is severely problematic.

Why is the Paw Patrol snack being recalled?
Paw Patrol biscuits are a great snack for children, as the little ones are big fans of this cartoon series. Especially on trips or hikes, snacks are the best helpers to keep children happy. The discount store Lidl also sees it this way and sells various sweet dishes with the helpers on four paws in the UK.
However their recent products have caused quite a havoc. On the back of the packaging, a printed URL is supposed to lead to the website of a children's fashion company. However, this link has been manipulated and now leads to a website that is not suitable for use by children. Consumer protection agency, Which?, goes into more detail in its warning on X (formerly Twitter) and even speaks of 'explicit content unsuitable for children'.
What to do if you've bought the product
If you have recently purchased the product for your child, Lidl has asked parents to return the affected biscuits to their nearest shop without clicking on the link.
The German company has not disclosed exactly what kind of content the URL leads to its product recall statement, however it has apologised for the error, saying in a statement:
We recommend that customers refrain from viewing the URL. Return this product to the nearest store where a full refund will be given.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your cooperation.
