The end of the summer holiday is fast approaching and with that means the last bank holiday of the summer. Indeed the last weekend of August 25 to August 28. This bank holiday falls at the same time as the Notting Hill Carnival.

The Notting Hill Carnival is to celebrate the culture, arts, and heritage of Caribbean people, as reported by History. This street festival takes place in West London and turns the streets into a blast of colour, and music.
As such, many road closures can be expected for the bank holiday weekend. So if you are planning a weekend trip that weekend, be sure to plan ahead and take into account traffic and delays that may occur.
Many roads in London will be closed
As you may expect with festivals, many roads in London, which is allegedly sinking, will closed. As reported by My London, it is believed that thousands will attend the festivities on Sunday, August, 27, and Monday, August 28.

Here is a list of road closures expected for the bank holiday weekend:
- Friday, August, 25
The A12 in both directions from Junction 13 to 15 will be closed. A diversion will be put in place and the closure is expected to last until August 29, 8 pm.
- Monday, August 28
The M4 eastbound at Junction 4 will be closed with a diversion put in place at Junction 3. The closure is expected to last until August 29 at 5.30 am.
The M4 westbound linking to the M25 anti-clockwise will also be closed completely. The closure is expected to last until August 29 at 5 am.
Finally, the M25 anti-clockwise from Junction 15 to Junction 14 and the M4 Eastbound and Westbound link roads to the M25 anti-clockwise Junction 15 lane and link road closed for carriageway repairs. Diversion in place via National Highways roads.The closure is expected to last until August 29 at 5 am.

Train strikes may affect Notting Hill Carnival
If you plan to head to Notting Hill Carnival, you should also plan your commute in advance as there may be strike actions that weekend.
Indeed as reported by The Independent, around 20,000 rail workers will strike on Saturday, August 26 causing major chaos across England.
Around 20,000 members of the RMT union at 14 train operators are expected to strike today disrupting those travelling to events such as the Notting Hill Carnival and the Reading and Leeds festivals

It is expected that on Saturday, August 26, trains will start later and finish earlier, while some services may completely closed. This may affect those heading to Notting Hill Carnival as well as the Reading and Leeds festivals.
