Donald Trump, his marriages and his alleged affairs have always been the talk of the town. Trump got married to his first wife Ivana Trump in 1977 - who tragically passed away in 2022. While he was still married to Ivana, Trump met Marla Maples in 1985 at a celebrity tennis match. The two became friends and eventually a romance blossomed that ended Trump’s first wedding to Ivana in 1990, reports People Magazine.
Marla Maples still supports Donald Trump and is open to be his ‘VP’
Despite the short-lived marriage, strict prenuptial terms, and a 2-year court battle over their divorce, Marla recently told The Standard that she has forgiven her ex-husband. She said:
Anything from the past I’ve forgiven. That is a conversation that Donald and I have had: forgiving each other. Marriages are challenging, especially when you play them out in the media.
The former actress and now a yoga teacher revealed that she stands with Trump as he runs for president again and supports him in whatever way possible. She explained she is ‘open to whatever way that [she] can serve’ the 78-year-oldincluding being his VP.
Marla, whose daughter Tiffany was a central figure in the 2016 election, revealed she initially disliked politics as it ‘divides and separates us.’ However, she felt compelled to support her daughter and by extension her ex-husband as well. The support exists so much so now that she has ambitions of being Trump’s vice president, according to sources. On being asked if the rumors were true, she said:
Someone would have to ask my ex-husband about that. I’m open. I’m open to whatever way that I can serve. Right now everyone [in the Trump family] is just seeing how we can help.
Donald Trump and Marla Maples: A look into their divorce
Donald Trump has been lucky in ex-wives being amicable department as Marla still supports his ex-husband. This comes as she dismissed his recent lawsuits like the one he lost last year for sexual abuse of the writer E Jean Carroll and the most recent Stormy Daniels one. Even Ivana said that after their divorce settlement, they settled into their roles as ‘companionable co-parents.’
Marla, like Ivana, battled their divorce terms in court for two years but settled for a mere $2 million in 1999.New York Post reported at that time that Marla gave Trump two years ‘to honor verbal commitments’ he made to her during their 12-year-long relationship but eventually settled it as per her prenup terms to spare herself from ‘any further emotional and physical turmoil.’
According to Marla, Trump only gave her the prenup five days before their 1993 wedding. Contrary to popular beliefs that Marla ‘walked away with a fortune’ she revealed that only received $1 million in settlement and another $1 million to buy a home. The brutal prenup stated that if the couple split in less than five years, Marla would only be entitled to that amount. Additionally, she also got $100,000 childhood support for Tiffany until she was 21 along with a shackling confidentiality agreement.
Marla confessed she ended the divorce case against the ‘advice of my attorney and other knowledgeable persons’ while Trump said:
I am very happy that Marla has decided to live up to our agreement. I wish her all the best.
