Emile's grandparents
The couple lives in the town of La Bouilladisse in the Bouches-du-Rhône region. They bought their home in Haut-Vernet in the early 2000s, to spend their summer vacations there, surrounded by their ten children. Émile's grandfather is an osteopath with a practice on the village's main street. Several of the magazine's sources described the head of the family as a 'hot-tempered' man.

Marie and Colomban, Emile's parents
A discreet couple in their twenties, Marie and Colomban live in a 'modest two-storey house under construction' not far from their parents' houses. Colomban, a Centrale Lyon graduate, is a structural engineer from Aubagne. Marie, Emile's mother, is the eldest of her siblings and a housewife. Emile's father is 'a former member of Action Française'who 'for a time was active in the Bastion Social unit in Marseille.' This intrigued the investigators. He appeared before the Aix-en-Provence correctionalcourt in 2018, following accusations of alleged assaulton people of foreign origin. He was eventually acquitted.
